A proper slice of the ’90s MTB golden era. This Marin Palisades Trail from 1996 is as clean as they com, barely any signs of use and just the right amount of retro charm.

Kept the soul, added some muscle. Upgraded with a Ritchey stem and wide Ritchey bar, keeping the cockpit steady and sharp. It’s got a Ritchey theme running through it, wheels and saddle too all tying the build together. Wrapped it up with fat Schwalbe Super Moto tires and a compact front rack. Old-school vibes with an urban racer twist.

Here’s the thing: back in ’96, the Palisades Trail sat right in Marin’s lineup as the sweet spot between their race-focused bikes and their all-round trail machines. Affordable, but built tough, and already rocking geometry that hinted at the modern MTB we know today.

Now, nearly 30 years later, this one feels fresh, fast and ready for city streets and weekend blasts. Build for riding not hanging on a wall.
